January 14, 2016, meeting at First Baptist Church, Lamesa

The meeting was called to order by Vice Moderator Garland Stueart. Opening prayer was led by Lyn Vogler.

The Minutes were approved as printed after a motion by Margie Archer and a second by Ron Land.

The Finance Report was approved as printed after a motion by Charles Empey and second by Travis Debnam.

The Disaster Relief Report was given by Lyn Vogler. There will be a disaster relief recertification training on February 20th at Friendship Baptist church beginning at 9am. Certification last for two years. Cards will be sent out. There will be another training in August. Our shower trailer has been requested for Mission Arlington for three weeks; March 12 through April 2, 2016.

The Evangelism Report was given by Charles Empey. Plans are being formulated for two revivals. One will be a one-day Bible Conference. Pray about an unknown project for the association.

The River Ministry Report was given by Carolyn Hogg. Every church in our association and some churches not part of our association participated in sending 491 shoe box gifts. 2500 shoe box gifts were distributed by Crossing Border Ministries to children among the very poorest residents along our TX-MX border who would have no other Christmas gifts. During Christmas hoildays Corny & Evie Dyck and John & Annie Wiebe took 150 fruit & candy bags to Children’s Homes. They also took coats, blankets, extra Christmas gifts, staple goods and turkeys to 3 pastors in Texas and 3 pastors on the Mexico side. Another trip will be made January 21-23 to take much needed winter clothes and blankets. Fabens had 3 inches of snow the first of Jan. when we had snow here.

The Circle Six Camp Report was given by Brian Colbath. The Men’s Rally will be February 8th with a bar-b-q meal, singing Men of West Texas and Dennis Swanberg as the speaker. Cost is $8. April 25th is the Adult Rally. Two Minister’s Retreats are planned for this spring and fall with no expense to pastors. The 1st retreat is March 21-22 beginning at 4pm on Mon through noon on Tue with Mike Satterfield as speaker. The 2nd retreat will be October 3-4.

Camp income is down $150,000 this year because of the decline in the oil industry. Camp has served 530 more guest this year between Sept. & Jan. than the previous year. In the board meeting at camp Jan. 11th the board voted to approve using for business only the name of Circle Six Baptist Camp and Conference Center. The official name remains Circle Six Ranch Baptist Camp. The camp has 250 new Tempur-Pedic mattresses. We expect to begin construction in April of a 3400 square foot 36’X90’ cabin that will accommodate 66 people. Camp expects attendance of 1,000 in both June and July.
