LAMESA BAPTIST ASSOCIATION EXECUTIVE BOARD

September 14, 2017

 Meeting at Crestview Baptist Church

The meeting was called to order by moderator Dennis Adams. Opening prayer was led by Corny Dyck.

The Minutes were received as printed after a motion by Garland Stueart and a second by Tommy Sanders.

Donations of $1400 have been received for Hurricane Harvey Disaster.

The Finance Report, given by Connie Sanders, was approved after a motion by Margie Archer and second by Jim Rush.

The Disaster Relief Report was given by Garland Stueart

As of today, the Disaster Trailer is on Standby. (Meaning, it is ready to deploy). The Truck had been giving us problems and we could not figure it out. Took it to a mechanic in Midland, who discovered the problem and fixed it. The cost was $900.00. (We have received gifts of almost 1750.00 for repair). The number 5 injector was bad and had to be replaced. The Trailer after having a long and rough Summer was in need of several repairs. Parts cost approx. $150.00. Labor cost a Meal at DQ. Trailer repairs were done by Garland, Tommie, E.L., Connie, Carolyn, Jenifer, Rudy, Lila, and Dalton. The Trailer was later loaded for deployment, thanks to Jim, E. L., Garland, Dustin, Corey, and Matthew.

Garland attended a Trainer Training in Dallas this week for Trainer certification.

Jim Weeks and David Bolton traveled to Houston and manned the Midland/Odessa Shower Trailer for a week. It is possible that we will be called out some time next week. At this time, we have only four that have committed to deploying. Garland and Jim, Lyn and Lori (week of Sep 23 -30).

Hopefully, there will be a local Yellow Cap Training in October in our area. (Lamesa or Big Spring). There is supposed to be one in O Donnell in Oct., but it is not on the TBM schedule yet. Everyone wishing to be certified as a YC will need to email Garland at midwaybc@poka.com for a link to create a profile on the TBM website so that you will be able to register for a YC Certification. At this time, it cost $20.00 to register which includes your background check. When you register you will be sent a Confirmation Number that you will need to take the class. After January 1, 2018, the cost will be $40.00. Volunteers completing Yellow Cap orientation, the fee includes the background check, badge and lanyard and one Yellow Cap. We really need volunteers that will deploy. We will offer training in the set-up and manning the Shower/Laundry Trailer. We will also cross- train those who wish to deploy with other units (Feeding - Mud Out - Chain Saw - Box/Tape - Child Care).

The River Ministry Report was given by Evie Dyck. There were about 30 on the summer VBS trip. Two evening VBS were held at the same time. Youth went to the park and did a VBS. Supplies were sent to four different churches across the border. Three accepted Christ at the last meeting at the park.

The Circle Six Camp Report was given by Brian Colbath. Thank you for your continued support of our ministry. This summer was amazing. We saw 90 students give their life to Christ at camp, bringing our total for the year to 114 saved. We also got to witness 4 baptisms in our pool. We couldn’t have done it without you.  Campers on Mission are working at camp this week. They are pouring sidewalks. Cabin #129 had to have a roof replaced. Thank you once again for your support. God Bless!

Wednesday, September 27th youth in the community will celebrate “Saw You at the Poles” which had 250 in attendance last year. The Fall Adult Rally will be October 30th. The speaker will be Robert Bankheart.

The Media Report was given by Travis Debnam. Our web site has received 63 users the last 28 days with 267 hits on pages. Most hits are on church pages with Crestview receiving the most hits and First Baptist running second. 96% of the hits were from the USA.

Motion to receive all reports was made by Corny Dyck and seconded by Margie Archer, carried.

Lyn Vogler, chairman of the nominating committee, reported all officers have consented to keep their present positions. Jim Medley will fill the Evangelism chairman position left vacant by Charles Empey. Todd Hatchett will take Charles Empey’s place on the Circle Six Camp board.

October 29th the Fifth Sunday Sing Along will be at Friendship at 5:00PM instead of 6:00pm. Open house for their remodeled church will be at 4:00 and after the service.

Closing prayer by Dennis Adams.
