LAMESA BAPTIST ASSOCIATION EXECUTIVE BOARD

September 15, 2016, meeting at Crestview Baptist Church

The meeting was called to order by moderator Dennis Adams. Opening prayer was led by Jim Medley.

The Minutes were approved as printed after a motion by Jim Weeks and a second by Billy Chapman.

The Finance Report given by Connie Sanders, was approved after a motion by Garland Stueart and second by Charles Empey. We bought a trailer for the River Ministry. Dennis Adams reminded the churches of their obligations to the association as we carry on work with the River Ministry, Circle Six Camp, Crossing Borders and the Shower Trailer ministries.

The Disaster Relief Report was given by Lyn Vogler. New tires costing about $860 were purchased for the ministry pickup. The first weekend of August, Tommy & Connie Sanders took the shower trailer to “Rock The Dessert” between Midland and Odessa. They provided 212 showers and 25 laundries. July 22-28 the trailer was at First Baptist Church, Chama, New Mexico for a sports camp. FBC Chama has done this program for several years and usually average about 20-25 kids being saved each year. David Bolton brought the trailer back from Chama to Lamesa. The water heaters need more pressure so a $700 pump was purchased.

The River Ministry Report was given by Carolyn Hogg. Appreciation was expressed for purchasing the larger trailer for the multiple trips each year to the border. Sometimes extra trips are made with clothing, furniture or household goods. The trip July 9-16 hosted one VBS in the morning averaging 36 daily and one VBS in the evening at Fort Hancock averaging 39.  Volunteers included 30 workers with some youth from Lamesa and some from El Paso.   800 health kits were taken to the border. Boxes of Bibles, health kits, craft items and financial help were sent to four churches across the border to help with their VBS. Information about Christmas Shoe Boxes will be available soon. 2500 Shoe Box gifts were distributed last year to children on both sides of the border who would not receive any other gifts at Christmas.

The Evangelism Report was given by Bro. Charles Empey. October 29th a Bible conference will be held at Crestview with the theme “Looking to Christ”. Three local pastors will be speakers. Hopefully the first of the year all our churches will participate in a Correspondence Evangelism outreach effort to win Lamesa to Jesus. Mailings will be made to approximately 3600 mail boxes. There are seven booklet lessons. At the end of each booklet the student sends a test sheet back to the church and then receives another booklet. At the end of the course an appointment will be made to personally deliver a certificate and a new bible to the student. The expenses will be over $1,000 for postage and printing.

The Circle Six Camp Report was given by Garland Stueart. The first new dorm since the 1950s is under construction and it will sleep 64 with a conference space in the center.

The Media Report was given by Travis Debnam. Our web site received 150 hits and they looked at 420 pages. Only 3 countries made hits with 101 hits from the USA and 36 from the UK.

Motion to receive all reports was mad by Charles Empey and seconded by Jim Medley. Carried.

A Christmas party for all officers, pastors and staff and wives and executive board members and their spouses will be December 5th at Crestview Baptist Church.

Motion to adjourn was made by Charles Empey, seconded by Garland Stueart. Carried.

Closing prayer was led by Jim Weeks.
